[Well that's a familiar crow's voice over the sound of distant rumbling thunder. Genpachi changes course, speeding up until he finds Shino, taking in the scene immediately as he half skids on the wet leaves and muddy ground, stopping at Shino's side.]

Shino, are you alright?

[immaturelycursed]

[That surprises him a little and seems to make him jump more than the thunder, really, since he expected to be alone.]

Ah—Genpachi! Yeah. Why are you here?

[oni_san]

[Going to check on Shino's ankle, hm.]

I heard you came out this way.

[immaturelycursed]

[Shino winces, his ankle seems trapped and by the position it's clear that he twisted it.]

You didn't have to follow me. I'm fine.

[oni_san]

[And the rain is turning to sleet. Genpachi carefully but efficiently rips the roots to free Shino's ankle.]

Can you even walk like this?

[immaturelycursed]

Of course I can walk on my own.

[Murasame is back on Shino’s shoulder and the kid does try to stand up himself! Only to stumble a little and he almost slips again, wincing again.]

Ow.

[oni_san]

[Yeah no. Going to scoop Shino up in his arms and princess carry him.]

Murasame, did you see any good places to take cover?

[immaturelycursed]

[. . . Shino tries to push him off, but he’s cold and he really can’t walk, so being stubborn is kind of pointless. He just grabs onto Genpachi’s coat as Murasame flies up a little, since he left Shino to let the man pick him up.]

There’s a cabin ahead! I saw it.

[oni_san]

[Genpachi predictably ignores the pushing.]

Can you lead us?

[immaturelycursed]

I lead the way!

[and takes off immediately until a very small cabin comes into view, Shino just giving up completely, but he’s making a face!!]

Don’t ignore me like that.

[oni_san]

If you walked on that ankle you'd really hurt yourself.

[Not that it's a problem Shino will heal but still. He knocks on the door of the cabin and opens it when it's obvious the tiny shack is abandoned and empty.]

It'll heal itself soon enough, you know.

[because he had to point it out anyway. Shino is immediately wary because INSECTS!!! but the cabin even seems to be lacking in that area too. It's a fairly empty one except for a bed with a dusty blanket and a table and a very old stove. The crow perches somewhere.]

It's cooold.

[oni_san]

That's no reason to ignore it now.

[He looks around, surprised that it seems clean enough aside from dust, and sets Shino on the bed, checking the stove.]

Ah, we're in luck.

[He pokes a pile of logs by the stove, shaking loose a few spiders as he starts to build the basic structure for a fire.]

Once the fire is going I'll bring some more wood in to dry. Shino, you should try to get warm.

[immaturelycursed]

Yeah, I can do that--

[Shino is going to push himself down as he talks but at the sight of spiders he's automatically jumping back and falling onto his butt near the bed—

and that noise seems to scare off some cockroaches. so Shino is screaming.]

—Ahh!!

[oni_san]

Ah, you've woken them up.

[Strides past Shino to easily strip the covers from the bed, uprighting the mattress to startle away any other bugs and crawlies. There are a few, sorry Shino.]

[immaturelycursed]

[these are the sounds of Shino flailing and screaming crawling somehow to the door and trying to climb on it.]

Don't do that! Stop, damn Genpachi!

[oni_san]

Now now, give me a moment and I'll clean up.

[He's shooing and herding the bugs out the window, shaking the bedding out to thoroughly dust it and scare off the rest of the bugs.]

Go light the fire. And careful of your ankle.

[immaturelycursed]

[no excuse him he's still flailing a little and considering going back outside, but once there seems to be less . . . everything . . . he wanders over and mutters.]

Like I know how . . .

[oni_san]

You've never lit a fire?

[Finishing with the bedding and checking under the bed frame before joining Shino. The cabin is now a bit dusty, but the open window will let it air as much as it can in this storm.]

Not really. I only know how to do it, but I've never done it myself.

[trying!! the stove is super old-fashioned so it might be hard.]

[oni_san]

[Genpachi will just take Shino's hands and guide him in fire making then, flint and steel isn't the easier to spark but it's doable.]

There, it's not so hard. How's your ankle?

[immaturelycursed]

[Shino is going to jump a little in surprise, not expecting to be touched, but he wants to learn and so he doesn't get his hands back, just trying to follow Genpachi's lead. but once the fire is ready he's pulling back.]

My ankle is fine.

[it's a bit swollen, but it's going to be difficult to notice with his boots.]

[Genpachi doesn't do anything else, leaning back to give Shino a thoughtful look.]

At the very least warm up by the fire before you catch a cold. I'll bring in some more wood to dry.

[immaturelycursed]

I can't catch a cold.

[but he's staying near the fire, a bit tired after all that's happened so he's just carefully taking off his boots and easing himself out of the jacket-thing he always wears.]

You're going outside again?

[oni_san]

A little rain like this won't bother me.

[Offering a playful grin as he heads back out into what can only be called a raging gale now, rain sleeting almose horizontal. ]
