[as an UPSTANDING OFFICER OF THE LAW you were alerted to what seemed to be a nasty domestic dispute taking place in an otherwise reputable neighborhood

should you decide to investigate the report, you will find nothing out of the ordinary, save for this nice young lady and what appears to be a dead body floating in the river behind her.]

Oh, good evening.

[That's not fifty red flags or anything. He's pretty calm though, as he surveys the scene, neither jumping into accusations nor reacting with immediate concern for the cute girl near a murder.]

Good evening. I'm going to need to ask you a few things, miss. But first I would ask you to please step aside.

[Approaching her and the river.]

[immaturelycursed]

[For some reason Shino went off alone in an errand from Rio and he’s lost in the woods! Except there’s a storm now and he’s looking for shelter, with Murasame flying a bit ahead.]

It’s only getting worse!

I suppose if it doesn't take too long, I will be obliged to answer. I have appointments to keep, you see!

[hopping aside when she's asked, seeming pretty unfazed by the whole dead body deal]

I'm afraid this is a police matter, you may have to reschedule. I'm sorry in advance for the inconvenience.

[He takes off his boots and wades into the river, hauling the body back with him and checking for signs of life and how dead it is.]

[oni_san]

[Was he sent to look for Shino or did he happen to be informed Shino went this way and decided to follow like he does? Either way, the weather is getting pretty awful, but he hasn't caught up to the kid yet. Which is worrying.]

You'll have to be very sorry, if it's making me late.

[he's dead jim. but yeah the body shows clear signs of a violent death, clothes missing and covered in bruises. it also appears to be strangely drained of blood, ~weird~]

[oni_san]

Yes. But I'm afraid it's important.

[He drags the body to shore and lays it out with respect.]

Can you tell me how you came across this scene, miss?

I walked, obviously.

[oni_san]

[Apparently not annoyed by the sarcasm or too literalness, just pulling his boots back on.]

Was the man dead when you arrived?

[immaturelycursed]

[Really awful. Terrible enough that Shino is maybe getting one ankle stuck with some roots and bushes and Murasame smashes himself against a tree.]

Ah. This was a bad idea.

Oh, very.

[oni_san]

[Well that's a familiar crow's voice over the sound of distant rumbling thunder. Genpachi changes course, speeding up until he finds Shino, taking in the scene immediately as he half skids on the wet leaves and muddy ground, stopping at Shino's side.]

Shino, are you alright?

[oni_san]

[He pauses a moment, taking his wet gloves off and pocketing them.]

Was he here, before you arrived?

[replacement]

[oni_san]

[Patiently.]

The dead man.

[immaturelycursed]

[That surprises him a little and seems to make him jump more than the thunder, really, since he expected to be alone.]

Ah—Genpachi! Yeah. Why are you here?

[replacement]

That's rather hard to say, isn't it? How can she know how a place was before she was ever there?

[oni_san]

Was he already floating in the river when you arrived or was he not, could you say?

[oni_san]

[Going to check on Shino's ankle, hm.]

I heard you came out this way.

[immaturelycursed]

[Shino winces, his ankle seems trapped and by the position it's clear that he twisted it.]

You didn't have to follow me. I'm fine.

Oh! That he was. Just farther up the way, I think.

[oni_san]

I see. Did you see anyone suspicious around? Or did you happen to witness the murder?

[oni_san]

[And the rain is turning to sleet. Genpachi carefully but efficiently rips the roots to free Shino's ankle.]

Can you even walk like this?

[I guess we are running into each other somehow, for some reason. Maybe there is some disruption that has gotten the attention of both the police and the church. Hopefully, it doesn't involve Shino]
